Kinetics of Primary and Memory Cytotoxic T Lymphocyte Responses to Herpes Simplex Virus 1 Infection: Granzyme B Mediated CTL Activity

Background: Herpes simplex virus type 1 is one of the most common viruses among human population. Studies demonstrate the essential role of cell mediated immunity, especially CD8+ T cells, in prevention and clearance of HSV1. Objective: It is of great importance to improve our knowledge about the kinetics of CTL responses to primary and secondary HSV-1 infection. Methods: Using a sensitive tech...

Evaluation of Humoral and Cell-mediated Immunity of Two Capripoxvirus Vaccine Strains against Lumpy Skin Disease Virus

Background and Aims: Prevention of Lumpy skin disease (LSD) in cattle is heavily dependent on vaccination. Since the genetic structure of LSD virus has the close relatedness with other Capri-pox virus (CaPV). Therefore, the use of vaccine strains of CaPV derived from sheep and goat would be useful to protect cattle against LSD. Materials and Methods: The susceptible calves of dairy farms were ...

Evaluation of Cell Mediated Immunity following Rubella Vaccination Using Lymphocyte Proliferation

Background and Aims: Rubella is predominantly a childhood disease that is endemic throughout the world and when rubella outbreaks occur, they are accompanied by birth defects following congenital rubella syndrome. Immunity to rubella virus as a teratogenic agent has an important role for prevention of these serious congenital defects. Lymphocyte proliferation assay is a way for investigation of...

Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: Could It Be Related to Cell-Mediated Immunity Defect in Response to Candida Antigen?

Objective Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) is a common cause of morbidity affecting millions of women worldwide. Patients with RVVC are thought to have an underlying immunologic defect. This study has been established to evaluate cell mediated immunity defect in response to candida antigen in RVVC cases. MaterialsAndMethods Our cross sectional study was performed in 3 groups of RVVC pa...

Cellular and humoral immune responses to varicella-zoster virus in immunocompromised patients during and after varicella-zoster infections.

Humoral and cell-mediated immune responses to varicella-zoster (V-Z) virus were assessed in patients during and after V-Z infections. Ongoing V-Z infections was associated with minimal cellular immunity but not necessarily with poor humoral immunity. Recovery from V-Z infection was associated with a vigorous cellular immune response. Cell-mediated immunity to V-Z virus was demonstrable for year...
